Bio:
Mark Chandler is the Director of the San Francisco Mayor's Office
of International Trade and Commerce. Mark has been a member of the
Mayor's Office for fifteen years and has worked for four mayors.
For the last twelve years, Mark has been responsible for the international
business programs of the City of San Francisco, including Sister
City ties, trade and investment projects, trade missions, import
and export promotion and international business attraction. Mark
has coordinated over twenty-five overseas missions to locations
diverse as Mexico, China, Vietnam, Ireland, Australia, The Philippines,
Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan.
Mark focuses on projects that require close business-community-government
cooperation in order to assure that our city expands its role as
an international gateway and commercial center. His efforts for
the SF Sister City program include having the program named the
Best Sister City program in 1990 and both the Manila and Shanghai
Committees have given Mark commendations for his long time support
of their activities. Mark was instrumental in the founding of the
SF-Ho Chi Minh Sister City program, the first US-Vietnam relationship.
Mark is a member of the Golden Gate National Parks Association and
Coyote Point Museum Association. He is a member of the Executive
Advisory Board for the San Francisco Global Trade Council and the
International Advisory Board of Sail SF. Previously he served on
the Asian Business Association advisory board and the Britain Meets
the Bay Board of Directors.
Prior to working for the Mayor's Office, Mark spent seven years
in the private sector as a Corporate Marketing Manager for U.S.
Sprint and Pacific Intermountain Express
He has a BA in Economics from U.C. Davis and an MBA in International
Marketing from UC Berkeley. Mark also studied Japanese Language
at the Tokyo Academy of Japanese for 1 ½ years while living
in Tokyo. Originally from San Luis Obispo, California, Mark has
lived in the Bay Area for over twenty years and is married to Carolyn
with a young daughter, Lea. He, his wife and daughter enjoy travel,
gardening and are avid San Francisco Giants fans.

Abstract:
Doing business in the global economy age presents great rewards along
unique challenges. Mr. Cai’s presentation will touch upon some
critical issues facing U.S. entrepreneurs, such as acceptance/return
of goods, risk of loss, payment and credit terms, international intellectual
property rights, choice of law and forum for dispute resolutions.

Bio:
Mr. Cai practices corporate and intellectual property (patent and
licensing transaction) law with Fortune Law Group of which he is
a founder. A majority of his clients are high technology emerging
growth companies in the areas of e-commerce software, integrated
circuit design, medical device, network and wireless communication
technology.
Prior to starting his own practice, Mr. Cai was an attorney at
Morrison & Foerster LLP, one of the largest law firm in California,
where he counseled clients on public security offerings (both issuer
and underwriter sides), venture financing, general corporate matters,
intellectual property licensing, and international joint ventures.
As a registered patent attorney, Mr. Cai also prosecuted patent
applications and provided patent counseling in areas of medical
devices and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
Mr. Cai also practiced law at another prestigious Silicon Valley
law firm Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich LLP, where he represented
various high technology start-ups and S&P500 companies in intellectual
property licensing transactions. One of his clients, a wireless
software infrastructure company, delivered the best IPO performance
in 1999 according to Barron’s.
Mr. Cai holds a Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from Temple University
School of Law in Philadelphia. He also holds engineering degrees
from Tong Ji University (B.S.) and Villanova University (M.S.).
He is admitted to practice in California and before the United States
Patent and Trademark Office. |

Bio:
Mr. Cohn is one of the founders of U.S. Merchant Systems Mr. Cohn
has over 26 years of sales, marketing and private business ownership
experience. He has over 13 years of related industry experience. Mr.
Cohn also serves on the boards of IntelliPay, Inc., and IntelliCash.
Mr. Cohn's primary responsibilities are managing the acquisition of
new alliance partners and synergistic programs. He also oversees a
large portion of the U.S. Merchant Systems sales channels. |

Martin Eng
Martin Eng has been a successful real estate investor and developer
in residual and commercial buildings in SF for almost 30 years.
Mr. Eng is the owner of White Snow Corporation, a name brand soy
manufacturer that produces soy-based beverage and tofu products
in Asian market. Mr. Eng is the founder and owner of www.asians.com
and many other website portals. Mr. Eng is re-elected and currently
serving the Chinese American Republican Club as President for his
second term in SF Chinatown. He was elected Vice Chairman in Republican
Central Committee in SF for two years. He was invited to attend
Ronald Regan inauguration as recognition for his political contribution.
He was Vice President of the Chinese Real Estate Association. Mr.
Eng has traveled over 70 countries and enjoys his single life.
Saul Yeung
Saul Yeung founded Central Computer in 1986, during the computer
boom of the Silicon Valley. Almost all major corporations in the
Valley have been his customers. Under his leadership, Central Computer
has evolved into Central Group, with diversified lines of business
in computer software and hardware, real estate, flooring, automobile
import/export/retailing and executive training. During both dot.com
and dot.bomb eras, Saul has stuck to his basic business principles
of value, service and evolution. This corporate strategy has led
Central Group to a sustained growth and become an icon of successful
Chinese immigrant stories in the Silicon Valley. Saul has a PhD
degree in Political Science from the University of California in
Berkeley.
